Frederick Straube claimed that the wounds to his head and arm were sufficient to qualify him for a pension. 

Suffering from multiple ailments, including rheumatism and heart and kidney disease, Straube requested additional monies beyond the $6 he was currently receiving.  This request required a examination by a surgeon.

The New York Deputy Clerk wrote a request on behalf of Frederick Straube to increase his pension payment from $2 a month based on his arm and head injury.

Straube receives support from his fellow 3rd New Jersey Light Infantry soldiers in this General Affidavit outlining the events that led to Straube's injuries at both Ream's Station and Camp Meade.
